How to collect product feedback on Shopify without a survey

Updated 2026-11-02 · Would You Swipe It team

Shopify merchants can collect lightweight product feedback through voluntary product interactions, post-purchase prompts or direct research. A swipe like or skip is faster than a questionnaire but answers a narrower question: what a visitor chose to do with a product. Be clear about consent, avoid collecting unnecessary personal data and do not overstate what the signal means.

Choose the smallest useful prompt Ask one question tied to a decision the merchant can make. Optional skip reasons can reveal a self-reported concern, while a support conversation can capture more context. Do not add fields for personal details unless they are necessary to respond.

Respect consent and minimize data Explain what is collected, where it is stored, who can see it and how it can be deleted. In Would You Swipe It, feedback is off by default and is sent only when the merchant enables it and Shopify allows analytics processing. The app stores product activity in private Shopify metaobjects, not its own database.

Interpret answers carefully Interaction data is not a random sample. Visitors who accept analytics or choose to leave a reason may differ from others. Compare feedback with orders, inventory and store traffic, and keep the denominator visible.
