Mobile product discovery on Shopify: grid or swipe
Updated 2026-11-02 · Would You Swipe It team
A product grid is best when shoppers want to scan many items, compare prices at once or use familiar category controls. Swipe-first discovery is an optional alternative for focused, visual browsing where a shopper considers one product at a time. A Shopify store can offer both and let shoppers choose the mode that suits the task.
Grid strengths
Grids show several products at once and support quick scanning, sorting and filtering. They work well for shoppers who already know what they want or need to compare items side by side. Make sure cards, filters and tap targets remain readable on small screens.
Swipe strengths and trade-offs
Swipe cards focus attention on a single product and make like, skip and save actions explicit. They add a step between the collection and the details page, so they should not hide search or create a forced funnel. Keep a clear way back to the standard grid and product page.
How to test the choice
Compare the same collection and products, check mobile performance and verify that both paths reach the same Shopify cart and checkout. If collecting feedback, honor analytics consent and interpret the results alongside traffic and orders.
