Comparison guide
Swipe likes vs wishlist apps on Shopify
A wishlist is designed to save products for later, while a swipe interface helps shoppers browse products and express interest as they go. Would You Swipe It includes a liked-products view that shoppers can revisit and use to add an available variant to the Shopify cart, but stores should compare persistence, sharing and reminder features in each app before choosing.
What does a wishlist app usually help with?
Wishlist apps focus on saving products so shoppers can return to them later. Depending on the provider, a wishlist may include account syncing, shared lists, restock notices, price alerts or merchant reports. Those features vary; check the specific app's documentation and plan limits.
What does swipe-to-shop add?
Swipe-to-shop changes how shoppers browse a product collection. In Would You Swipe It, shoppers can like, skip, inspect product details, select an available variant and add it to Shopify's normal cart. Liked items appear in a favourites view for returning to and shopping from.
For logged-in customers, the app can save likes to its app-owned Shopify customer metafield so they can appear across devices. Anonymous likes are stored on the shopper's device and are not matched to a named customer. This is not a promise of wishlist sharing, price alerts or restock notifications.
Compare the jobs, not just the labels
- **Save for later:** a wishlist is built around saving; Would You Swipe It's favourites view lets shoppers revisit their likes.
- **Discover products:** swipe-to-shop adds a card-based browsing mode; a wishlist may leave discovery to the normal catalogue.
- **Return across devices:** verify the specific app's login and persistence behavior. Would You Swipe It uses a customer metafield for logged-in likes and device storage for anonymous likes.
- **Merchant analytics:** Would You Swipe It reports consent-enabled product views, likes, skips and cart additions. It does not provide the full range of features offered by every wishlist app.
- **Order comparisons:** available only within Shopify's 60-day order window and with approved order access; customer matching applies only to logged-in shoppers.
Can a store use both?
Possibly. A store can keep its existing wishlist and test swipe-to-shop as an optional way to browse, but should check for overlapping buttons, duplicate saved-item behavior, theme compatibility and confusing analytics. Test the full product-to-cart flow on mobile and desktop before publishing.
